Since our inception in 2017, we have been looking out for a music streaming service that offers more than just a platform to upload music. We sought for a music streaming service that went the extra mile to connect with music artists on a more personal level, taking time to understand why they do music and the aspirations they have. One that looks beyond just monetising our music to creating a space of expression in a manner that redefines the culture of music in Africa. Our focus in this search led us to discovering aftown music.

To us, Believe Over Hope, Aftown is a family of innovators that are changing the face of music for Africa. With Aftown, we quickly learned to drop the cliché of labelling music as just ‘African Music’ – embracing their mantra of “Music Made by Africans for the World”, projecting the unique roles of every music contributor; the songwriter, producer, session artist, vocalist. In Aftown, an African can create good and positive music with a diverse, forwarding-looking and culture-redefining signature. This is why we at ‘Believe Over Hope’, have kicked off an exciting journey working with Aftown Music.

In Aftown, the future of Music made by Africa is unlimited and ready for a global stage in a different way.

The album is the creation of husband-and-wife duo Prof. Richard and Dr. Sheena Lovia Boateng who lead the Contemporary Christian Pop band ‘Believe Over Hope’. Its lyrical content is clearly a celebration and an expression of their deeply held beliefs, musically this new album is also infectious and accessible no matter which viewpoint you come at it from, Christian or otherwise.

Husband and wife duo Richard and Sheena Lovia Boateng have spent years making a name for themselves in the Christian music scene with their distinctive mix of pop, R&B, and gospel sounds.  On their newest song, they show off the gift for uplifting melodies that have won them fans around the world.

Couple duos aren’t uncommon in the music industry. However, unlike the other couples in the industry, Richard and Sheena Lovia Boateng have a bigger agenda than just showcasing their love. They’re using their music to spread the word of Jesus.

Their new album ‘Hello Sheena’ combines their love for each other as well as their love for Jesus. Written and produced by Richard for his wife’s birthday, the album looks to bring out and evoke the power of love in a relationship. Songs such as “Hello Sheena”, “Happy Birthday” and “The Man That I Am” showcase Richard’s love and respect for his wife, Sheena.

Both Richard and Sheena may not have started out in the industry but have certainly come to make a name for themselves. They have created a unique sound and voice within the Christian, Pop, and R&B scene. In the three years that they have produced and released music, they have managed to blend Gospel, Rock, Jazz into music, proving that spreading the love of Jesus isn’t boring.

The album itself is all about love. The pop and R&B album fully captures the strength, beauty, and love that Richard has for his wife, Sheena. Songs like “Take Me To France” and “Waiting From Ireland” gives you a look into the couple’s relationship and their dreams and desires.
